Aerial Hoop

Aerial Hoop ClassAll Aerial Hoop classes are 60 minutes in length and may be purchased through enrollment in one of our Membership Clubs or by purchasing a one-month A La Carte pass. Due to the progressive nature of these classes, drop-ins are not permitted. If you are new to Rising Goddess Fitness and want to try Aerial Hoop on a one-time basis, enroll in one of our Snapshot classes.

Class Attire: We recommend wearing full length leggings (down to ankle) for Lyra. Tank tops or shirts with sleeves are appropriate. Class is held barefoot or in socks. Leg warmers can also be useful to help cushion the backs of the knees.

Tier 1: Foundations Level

Duration: Students will remain at the Foundations Level for a total of 8 weeks (80 minutes per class).

The Aerial Hoop, also known as Lyra, is a classic aerial apparatus that allows students to demonstrate a mix of beautiful, graceful movement combined with strength-based maneuvers. This Foundations level class, designed for the true beginner, will allow students to become familiar with the apparatus through an introduction to proper form, basic poses in the hoops, beginner transitions and short sequences.

Strengthening and conditioning exercises will be incorporated during each class to properly prepare students for progression on to the Beginner level. The Aerial Hoops will remain low to the ground during this level, allowing students to become fully comfortable with the apparatus as they learn fundamental moves such as Man In the Moon, Stag Sit, Secretary and more.

Prerequisites: None.

Tier 2: Beginner Level

Duration: Students will remain at the Beginner Level for a total of 8 weeks (80 minutes per class).

During the Beginner level, we will build upon the skills learned in Foundations, adding new unique transitions and combos. Students will be exposed to the dance element of Aerial Hoop as they learn to weave in and out of the hoop through a series of tricks and flow movements. Some of the tricks introduced at this level are Star on the Bar, Straddle Mounting, Bent Leg Gazelle, and High Arabesque.

Prerequisites: Completion of our Tier 1: Aerial Hoop Foundations class or instructor approval. If you are transferring from another studio and have questions about your class placement, please give us a call so we may help!

Tier 3: Transitions Level

Duration: Students will remain at the Transitions Level for a total of 8 weeks (80 minutes per class).

Transitions Aerial Hoop level will serve as an important bridge between the Beginner and Intermediate Levels. During the Transitions level, students will begin freestyling in the hoop and are encouraged to take their Lyra practice to the next level by performing tricks in a higher lyra, if desired. We will continue to build upon the skills learned in the Beginner Level, by adding new unique transitions and combos.
